On April 22, 2017, the SDSU BSCRIP interns showed their support of science in San Diego by joining about 15,000 other scientists, engineers, students, teachers, and science enthusiasts in the March for Sciences. The March was a family-friendly, educational event aimed at building awareness for the importance of science in society, and highlighting the San Diego region’s leadership in the sciences.

The interns participated because, as college students working throughout the San Diego area on projects dedicated to helping bring treatments to patients with unmet needs, they stand for our region’s scientific future. One of our interns, Rachael McVicar was somewhat “overwhelmed” with the numbers of people there to support science. “I felt like I belonged to a group of the thousands of people in San Diego that want to preserve research funding and protect our environment.  It was surreal to see how many people want to bring awareness to science and march for policy change in order to benefit our future.”
