Writing Papers for the SDSU PPHA Office
(for internships and classes)

Papers for internships and classes through this office will include:

At least five journal articles must be referenced that were published within the last two years. Wikipedia is not a journal and, if used at all, should be read for background material before finding peer-reviewed journal articles.   No book sources are to be used without specific permission of this office.  Reference quotations or ideas within the body of the text as well as in the reference/bibliography section.

Use the following format for scientific journal articles in your bibliography or references section:

Hall, C. 1995.  Effects of thiamine deficiency on thermostasis and circadian rhythm SDSU McNair Journal 2:181-189.

For Website citations:

Hall, C. 1995.  Effects of thiamine deficiency on thermostasis and circadian rhythm.
 Available:   http://url address.

It is very important to give credit for ideas and quotations within the body of the paper.  This makes it clear what ideas are being cited and the specific reference.  This office will accept footnotes that relate to the references listed at the end, or a shortened reference in parenthesis such as: (Hall, 1995).  You are welcome to use either APA (American Psychological Association) or MLA (Modern Language Association) formats for your paper.

Papers that do not cite references within the body of the text and at the end will be returned and no credit will be given until they are corrected to contain those references.

We look forward to reading excellent papers that reflect the professionalism of your future occupation.
