  How do I sign up for the MHIRT program?

  • The SDSU MHIRT office will help you every step of the way. We can assist you with where you need to go.

  What does MHIRT cover?

  • Students and mentors receive the following under this grant:

    Stipends:

  • $800/month for an undergraduate student

  • $1,225/month for a graduate student

  • $1,225/month for a faculty mentor

Foreign Living Expenses:

  • $1,000/month for a student trainee

  • $2,000/month for a faculty mentor

Tuition, fees, insurance

  • $1,500 per student trainee

Training-related Supplies:

  • $600/month per student trainee

PLEASE NOTE: Students are to use the checks received from the MHIRT program to pay for expenses, especially housing. Often, students must pay for their housing arrangements directly with the checks from this program.

  When do I travel? Where do I arrive?

  • These details are worked out between the mentor and the student before traveling.
