Rees-Stealy Research Foundation has formed an association with
San Diego State University Heart Institute in presenting several
scientific seminars. The Heart Institute itself was originally
begun in 1983 by Dr. Paul Paolini and has the express mission
to promote participation and collaboration in research activities,
teaching programs, and outreach to the community in the field
of cardiovascular disease. The Institute's goal is to bring together
basic science researchers interested in heart disease, clinicians
in the field of cardiology, pharmaceutical companies, biotech
firms interested in heart research and development, and mentors
and teachers who are interested in attracting a greater number
of students to enter the field of molecular biology, biology or
chemistry research.
The Institute is also dedicated to increasing awareness among
the general public, as well as schools K-12, and community colleges
in the greater San Diego area about cardiovascular disease, current
cardiovascular research, and the treatment and prevention of heart
disease.
Past Seminars:
The future activities of the Heart Institute will be related
to seminars, research grants, solicitation of additional external
support, scientific publications, teaching, and publicity regarding
heart disease. Envisioned for the future is a Research Park with
buildings dedicated to basic research in the cardiovascular field.
Dr. Chris Glembotski is the current chairman of the Heart Institute
and is working closely with Dr. Paul Paolini of Rees-Stealy Research
Foundation.
