The Rees-Stealy Research Foundation recently established a connection with the Biology Department at the University of San Diego. Dr Lisa Baird, USD Biology Department chair, and Dr. Kevin Krown, Rees-Stealy Laboratory Manager, share an interest in several areas of heart research, and have selected students from USD to rotate through the RSRF Laboratory site on Fourth Avenue. This collaboration will give an opportunity for students majoring in Biology, Chemistry or related fields at USD to have an opportunity to conduct "hands on" research projects. Dr. Kevin Krown will supervise and direct these studies. This relationship with USD will parallel the long-standing association between the laboratory and students from San Diego State University. This SDSU student training program has been very successful, with numerous undergraduate and graduate students rotating through the laboratory gaining a wide variety of specific research skills to supplement their academic studies. |
