Joe Verfaillie first worked for the GCRG in the summer of 1994. He spent three months on the North Slope of Alaska taking chamber measurements under the direction of George Vourlitis. In October 1997 Joe returned to work for the group as their lead programmer. He is currently working with Ed Dumas of NOAA/ATDD in Oak Ridge Tennessee, to develop software for the GT-500 air plane the group plans to fly in Alaska starting in May 1998. This includes software to run the on-board computer system and post-processing software.
On going and future programming projects include: continued development of
the Kuparuk Basin flux modeling programs begun by Viktor Nostov, Data
reduction for eddy towers, revamping the FACE ring control software, and
the development of the Kuparuk Basin flux model in ArcView GIS.
Joe has no immediate plans, but he is considering pursuing further education
in mathematics and modeling
