Karlis Ogle is a native of California. He officially came into being on October 3, 1971 in San Francisco, California. At the age of two years old he migrated to San Diego, California and never left. As an undergraduate at San Diego State University (SDSU), he had the opportunity of working on various projects in the chaparral and the Arctic under the direction of Dr. Walter C. Oechel. This catalyzed his interest in pursuing research in the field of plant physiological ecology at SDSU. Karlis is a master's student, and his major area of interest is resource allocation under varying environmental conditions. He is conducting research at Sky Oaks Biological Field station in northern San Diego county. Specifically, he is looking at carbon and nutrient allocation of Adenostoma fasciculatum under CO2 enrichment. In addition, he is interested in studying how plant resource allocation patterns are influenced by varying ecosystem conditions such as temperature, and light.

Education:

B.S. in Biology, San Diego State University, 1996.
Pursuing Masters in Biology at San Diego State University.

Recent Presentations:

Leaf area, shoot elongation and inflorescence response of Adenostoma fasciculatum dominated chaparral to elevated CO2 using FACE and CO2LT approaches. Presented at: MEDECOS VII, October 18-26, 1997.
