Welcome to the Professional Development Collaborative

The Professional Development Collaborative (PDC) provides a variety of professional education programs to mathematics and science teachers in San Diego County.  We offer teachers the opportunity to reexamine the mathematics and science they teach at their various levels, and come to a deeper understanding of this content and its connections to other mathematical and scientific ideas and concepts.

The Mathematics Specialist Certificate Program

The San Diego State University Mathematics Specialist Certificate Program

The SDSU Elementary Mathematics Specialist Certificate Program is a two-year program designed specifically for elementary school teachers. The PDC offers two programs: the Mathematics Specialist Certificate Program (MSCP) for Upper Elementary (4-6) grade level teachers and the Primary Mathematics Specialist Certificate Program (PMSCP) for Primary (K-3) grade level teachers.

If you are interested in either the primary or upper elementary programs, please download the following flyer, which contains a form which you can fill out for more information on our programs:

MSCP Interest Flyer

Instructions on where to send the flyers once completed are on the forms themselves.

We also offer a variety of math courses designed specifically for practicing teachers. The focus is on helping teachers acquire a deep understanding of the mathematics they teach and the skills needed to teach that mathematics effectively. Each program consists of 12 units of coursework in mathematics and pedagogy geared to the particular grade levels.

Educational Partners

The PDC is part of an educational parnership called Improving Student Achievement in Mathematics, or ISAM. We work with the following projects:

Math Masters Program

We would like to announce application opportunities for the next cohort for the MA in K-8 math education in the School of Teacher Education. We think it's a great next-step for people who have been involved in our programs.
