Jun. 17, 2013: President's Leadership Fund Awards Honor Randy Philipp, Four Others. Five San Diego State University faculty and staff members, including CRMSE member Randolph Philipp, were recognized for their significant contributions to the university at the President's Leadership Fund Awards ceremony.

 

Spring 2013: Mathematics Teacher Noticing: Seeing through Teachers' Eyes selected for award. Edited by Miriam Sherin (Northwestern), Victoria Jacobs (CRMSE) and Randolph Philipp (CRMSE), this book was selected for the Division K Exemplary Research in Teaching and Teacher Education Award.

 

Oct. 25, 2012: Subaru Funds Math & Science Education.The SDSU Newscenter reports that Subaru has made a gift of $5000 to CRMSE to to support its Informal Learning in Math and Science course in The Lab Zone.

 

Sep. 24, 2012: NSF grant, Qualcomm funds to train science, math teachers. The U-T San Diego reports on the awarding of the Noyce grant by NSF and Qualcomm at SDSU. The grant provides PD support for 32 math & science teachers.

 

Nov. 8, 2011: Looking at new ways to learn math, science. The San Diego Union-Tribune profiles the MSED program and CRMSE at signonsandiego. The story also made the paper's front page on Nov. 8, 2011.

 

Jan. 27, 2011: Nadine Bezuk Honored by AMTE. Nadine Bezuk was honored by AMTE in recognition of Nadine's contributions to the organization over the past two decades, AMTE changed the name of the Excellence in Service Award to the Nadine Bezuk Excellence in Leadership and Service Award. and gave a special inaugural edition of this award to Nadine.

Welcome to CRMSE!

The Center for Research in Mathematics & Science Education (CRMSE) brings together researchers interested in studying how individuals acquire knowledge in mathematics and science. CRMSE facilitates and encourages collaboration among faculty members from departments of the College of Sciences and the College of Education. Faculty and staff of CRMSE are engaged in activities including research, curriculum development and dissemination, publications, presentations, and leadership roles. CRMSE serves as the headquarters for the Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators (AMTE), the leading organization devoted to supporting mathematics teacher education, and houses the Professional Development Collaborative (PDC). CRMSE is among the research centers spotlighted on San Diego State's Innovation and Discovery page.

Our Ph.D. Program in Mathematics and Science Education (MSED), jointly sponsored by SDSU and UCSD, develops leaders of mathematics and science education at all levels of learning. 

CRMSE sponsors a series of colloquia by distinguished scholars to provide lectures and seminars on relevant issues in mathematics and science teaching and learning. This program offers faculty and students the opportunity to interact with prominent scholars, and also provides a forum for disseminating and understanding these issues through lectures that are open to the general public.
