Noyce Scholarship and
Stipend Information
The Robert
Noyce Scholarship Program at San Diego State University (SDSU) Center for
Research in Mathematics and Science Education (CRMSE) is currently accepting
applications for undergraduate senior-year Scholarships
and graduate credential program Stipends.
If you have a Bachelor’s degree or more in biology, chemistry, geosciences,
mathematics or physics and a strong desire for an interesting, challenging,

The Noyce
Scholarship program offers a $5,000 per semester Scholarship for support of SDSU biology, chemistry, geosciences,
mathematics and physics majors in their senior year who plan to enroll in the
SDSU single-subject teaching credential program and subsequently teach in
The Noyce
Stipend program offers a $5,000 per semester Stipend for individuals who have earned a Bachelor’s degree in
biology, chemistry, geosciences, mathematics or physics and who are interested
in a career in teaching. These individuals may also have advanced degrees
and/or other workplace experience. To be eligible for a Noyce stipend,
individuals must enroll in the SDSU single-subject teaching credential program
and subsequently teach in

Scholarship and Stipend Applicants will be evaluated on the basis of the
following:
· Academic Performance in biology, chemistry, geosciences, mathematics or physics, based on evaluation of transcripts and other available information
·
Personal Accomplishments as
presented in your resume and interview
·
1 – 2 page Statement of Interest
·
Financial need as established
with an SDSU Student Aid Report
·
Letters of recommendation from
two individuals who can vouch for your work ethic and performance
·
Personal Interview (required for
finalists)
·
Draft schedule for completing
the
Also desirable - evidence of:
·
Experience and success in
working with K-12 students
·
Community service projects
·
Strong performance in a
mathematics or science-related field (TA, GA, or career)
·
Independent study (e.g., a
thesis or project report) or independent assignment (e.g., Peace Corp)
Eligibility:
Robert Noyce Scholarship and Stipend Recipients Must Be:
·
Majoring in, or have majored in,
biology, chemistry, geosciences, mathematics or physics,
·
· In financial need as determined by the SDSU Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships (OFAS),
Conditions:
Robert Noyce Scholarship and Stipend Recipients Must:
·
Enroll at
·
Pursue a single subject teaching
credential in mathematics or science,
·
Maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above,
·
Attend SDSU full time and
continuously,
·
Teach in a high-need school in
·
Participate in activities
associated with the Noyce Program (3 meetings per semester), and
·
Submit career information annually to Noyce Project staff until all
requirements of the scholarship program are met.
