Kristen Ward is developing a GIS model to predict the expansion of Spartina foliosa patches in the lagoon at Tijuana Estuary. In the photo above she is mapping the microtopography of the soft lagoon bottom with high precision GPS equipment to establish baseline elevations for the sediments in order to predict sedimentation rates.
