Education
- B.S. Biology (with emphasis in Ecology) to be completed Fall 1995 at San Diego State University
Research Experience
- 1993-present: collection and identification of invertebrates for the Pacific Estuarine Research Laboratory (PERL).
- 1993-1994: collection of behavioral data from cliff based surveys on bottlenose dolphins for sequential analysis (completed as a Masters project by Lynne Barre, 1994).
- 1994-1995: collection of behavioral data from boat based surveys on bottlenose dolphins for comparison of nocturnal with diurnal behavior state proportions (to be completed as a Masters project by John Day).
Future Focus of Research
I plan to enter the Interdisiplinary Masters Program in Animal Behavior at San Diego State University in the Spring of 1996 emphasizing in Population Ecology. The focus of my research will be on the population ecology of the bottlenose dolphins found along the Alabama and western Florida panhandle coastlines.
Part of the "new twist" I have planned for this research includes the implementation of a relatively new methodology using video in the collection of dorsal picts and a computer for indexing my data base of dorsal shots. Life is getting exciting as we approach the twenty-first century.
