Stimuli were displayed on an IBM 486 computer with a 14 inch monitor. Research participants sat approximately 28 inches from the bottom of the stimulus. Stimuli were drawn in lowercase letters using the Borland ``Triplex 6'' font, which produces letters approximately 5/8 inches high on the monitor. Thus, stimuli subtended approximately 1.21 degrees of visual angle.
