HOMEWORK:

You are expected to do all problems for which solutions are included in the student solution manual. (on covered chapters)

 

GRADING:

There will be 4 tests, each counting for 25% of the grade (25 points). One A4-sheet with formula's written on one side is allowed.   Up to 10 points extra credit can be earned by writing a 3-page project/paper on a topic of choice (related to class content). 

Scale: A: 90 points, A- 87, B+ 81, B 78, B- 74, C+ 67,  C 63, C- 59, D+ 52, D 48, D- 45.

Student learning outcomes:

This course offers an introduction to quantum physics and discusses how its revolutionary concepts shape current physics research as well as peoples everyday life.  Students should be able to understand material at an analytical and conceptual level.  An optional project will introduce students to the literature and will help them to develop scientific writing skills.
